Why use eLC?

eLC at UGA gives a FERPA-secured stage to eLCuga (Athena) courses to house study hall substance and exercises in a common advanced learning space.

For example, you can use eLC at UGA to share and store documents, run quizzes, engage students in online discussions, provide videos, audios, and other resources, post course announcements, and more.

Find a course in eLC UGA New

  • The course you have registered for should appear on the eLC UGA homepage. These courses are “pinned” to your course list so that they appear on the homepage and in your course menu.
  • To view a list of current and recent courses, click the Waffle icon in the menu at the top of the screen. Your regular course will appear first, and the most recent course will appear next.
  • If you don’t see your courses, click View all courses under the “My Courses” list. A search bar will be provided. Students who receive the “Error: Unauthorized” message when trying to access their eLC emails should first check if they have an ongoing survey.
  • Click the envelope at the top of the screen. If you receive a message saying that you have a test to complete, please return to the test and make sure it is sent when it is complete.
  • It is not possible to send emails in eLC UGA new during the test. If the test is closed and you cannot access it, please contact your teacher. If you did not take the exam, please notify the EITS or D2L Help Center via the contact information at the top of this page.
  • When items are added to eLC UGA new, students may receive emails and/or text messages.

ArchPass is a two-step login solution for eLCuga support phones, supported by Duo. A system protected by ArchPass has two steps instead of a login process.

  • Enter MyID and password
  • Use Duo registered mobile phone or tablet to verify your ID. You can verify your identity through push notifications from smartphones, passwords generated through the Duo mobile app, SMS text notifications from mobile phones, or calls from mobile phones or landlines.
  • You can choose to let the browser remember your ArchPass login information for 7 days. After 7 days, or if you switch to another device or web browser, you will have to log in again with ArchPass.
  • Requesting ArchPass to access eLC new UGA, Athena, and employee self-service sites will help ensure the security of sensitive student and employee information.
  • To start using ArchPass to access any of these systems, you need to register your phone or tablet in Duo, a third-party service supported by ArchPass.
  • You can register your smartphone, mobile phone, tablet or landline. These devices are used to verify your identity every time you log in to the system. Students, faculty and staff can now register devices through the Duo self-service portal on the ArchPass website (archpass.uga.edu).
  • Registration is completely self-service and only takes five minutes. Instructions for registering the device are available. In addition, a webinar on using ArchPass recorded on February 15 has been posted on archpass.uga.edu.
  • Register the device as early as possible to avoid being locked out of eLC new UGA, Athena login or employee.uga.edu on the effective date listed above. Some UGA systems are already protected by ArchPass. Since 2013, systems containing sensitive or restricted data (such as financial data or social security numbers) require ArchPass.
  • Since the beginning of 2017, access to the campus network (remote access VPN) and student computing resources vLab has been protected by ArchPass.

How can we email professors or other students about eLC?

Send an email

  • To send an email, click the mail icon in the minibar. Then select uga elearning Email.
  • You will then be taken to your inbox. The list of folders is on the left. To start an email, click Compose.
  • A new window will open. In this window, fill in the required information such as subject, body, and recipient. You can also add attachments.
  • If you know your eLC UGA recipient’s name, you can start typing and the To You field will be filled in automatically. If you don’t know the name of your recipient or want to send it to multiple recipients, use your address book.
  • Your class members, including your instructor and teacher, will be displayed. You can select one student, multiple students, or the entire course. To select the entire class, click the box above the student and all the boxes next to the student’s name will be checked.
  • Once you have selected your email recipients, you need to click on To and then Add Recipients. Use the same steps to add an eLC UGA email address to the Cc or Bcc field. Once done, you need to click Close.
  • To add an attachment to your email, select the Upload button to access the document on your computer. You can also record an audio message by selecting the Record Audio button in elearning commons uga.
  • Once you are done with your elc ugs email, click the Send button at the top of the email message screen.

Getting an “Error: Unauthorized” message when trying to access my elc ugs email. What to do?

Students who get an “Error: Unauthorized” message when trying to access their elc ugs mail should first check if they ran the test. Click on the button present at the envelope on the top of the screen. If you get a message that you need to complete the test, go back to the test and make sure it was sent when it’s done.

How to add a notification to eLC UGA commons?

Students may receive an email and/or text message when an item is added to the uga edu elc. Common warnings are when instructors make announcements on the course homepage, when deadlines are approaching, and when discussions are posted on discussion forums. To manage notifications, click your name in the right corner of the elc learning commons home page, then click Notifications.

Confirm the email address you want to use for notifications and add your phone number to receive text messages (text fees apply). Select the items you want to be notified of and how you want to receive notifications. Select Save when done.
